After a tougher start to the season, Lech is back on the winning track. On Saturday, Niels Frederiksen’s squad celebrated their fourth consecutive victory. This time, they defeated Górnik Zabrze 2:1 at home, with goals from Leo Bengtsson and Mikael Ishak.
Lech faced Górnik Zabrze in a league clash just two days after returning to Poznań from Iceland. The team from Poznań came back home in high spirits, having confidently advanced to the third qualifying round of the Champions League, where Crvena Zvezda already awaits. But before Lech faces the Serbian champions, they needed to play against Górnik Zabrze.
The first half of the match was rather slow and uneventful. Neither team created scoring chances, so the goalkeepers had little to do. The situation changed in the second half when the substitutes came on. Exactly 15 minutes after the break, Lech took the lead. Joel Pereira delivered a long pass to Leo Bengtsson, who outran Marcel Łubik and tapped the ball into an empty net. Lech kept up the pressure and scored a second goal 20 minutes later. Łubik parried a powerful shot from Luis Palma straight into the path of Mikael Ishak. The Swedish confidently placed the follow-up shot in the net and celebrated his seventh goal of the season.
In the final phase of the match, Górnik pulled one back with a long-distance strike from Ousmane Sow, but it was just a consolation goal.
