Raków Częstochowa - Lech Poznań 2:2

In the most recent league match, Lech Poznań faced Raków Częstochowa - a team that has had a poor start to the season. After an exciting away game, Lech drew 2:2.

The clash with Marek Papszun's team was only Lech's third away game this season. Just a few days earlier, Niels Frederiksen’s squad secured their second league win away from home by defeating Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza 2:0. Lech didn’t have much time to celebrate the triumph since they had to face Raków Częstochowa in a midweek clash. Although Raków hasn’t had a successful start to the season, the matches in Częstochowa are always challenging for Lech.

The Wednesday match was a highly dramatic one. In the first half, Frederiksen's team completely dominated their opponents. Although the home side was the first to put the ball in the net, Ivi López was in an offside position; therefore, the goal was disallowed. Shortly after, Lech took the lead thanks to Joel Pereira’s shot from outside the box. The guests didn’t stop there and found the net three more times before the break. However, the scoreboard only showed 2:0 after 45 minutes, as goals by Alex Douglas and Mikael Ishak were both ruled offside. But when Luis Palma put the ball past Raków’s keeper, there were no doubts. The Honduran broke away down the right wing, easily bypassed his opponent, and increased the lead with a strong left-footed shot.

Shortly after the break, Palma received a red card for a foul on Zoran Arsenic – it was a turning point of the match. With one man more, Raków pushed Lech deep into defence and quickly found a way to equalise. First, Péter Baráth converted a corner kick into a goal, and just seconds later, Ivi took a penalty and changed the score to 2:2.

In the closing minutes, Raków took the lead for the first time in the match, but Brunes was in an offside position. Lech held on to the draw until the final whistle and were left feeling both relief and disappointment after the match.
