Lech Poznań bounced back from their recent defeat against Zagłębie Lubin with a confident 2:0 win against Termalica Nieciecza. Mikael Ishak scored a brace and made history with over 100 goals for Lech in his account.
For the first time in a while, coach Niels Frederiksen was able to work calmly with a full squad for the entire week. The fans expected to see the results in the clash with Termalica, who had failed to win their last four matches in the PKO BP Ekstraklasa. For Lech, it was only their second away game of the season; previously, they had claimed three points in a match against Lechia Gdańsk.
The tempo of the game was fairly calm from the start, but surprisingly, the hosts were the first ones to cause problems for the opponents’ keeper. First, Igor Strzałek fired a powerful shot from outside the box that Bartosz Mrozek managed to save, and then Alex Douglas blocked an attempt from Maciej Ambrosiewicz at the last moment. The guests needed a moment to find a rhythm, but gradually became more decisive. Miłosz Mleczko was first called into action after a shot by Kornel Lisman from the edge of the penalty area, and shortly after, Taofeek Ismaheel hit the post. However, just before halftime, the Termalica goalkeeper was forced to take the ball out of his net. Antonio Milić received a pass from a corner kick and set up Mikael Ishak with a perfect assist, which the Swedish striker converted into a header that hit the post and fell into the net. In doing so, Ishak entered the club’s history books with his 100th goal in the blue-and-white shirt.
Shortly after the second half began, Lech delivered a second blow. The hosts lost possession in their own half, and Luis Palma played Ishak through on goal. The Swedish captain made no mistake in the one-on-one situation. After that goal, the game calmed down, with most of the action taking place in midfield. Niels Frederiksen’s squad maintained full control until the final whistle and deservedly claimed another three points this season.
