Lech Poznań - Zagłębie Lubin 1:2

On Friday, Lech resumed the league competition after the September international break. Niels Frederiksen’s squad hosted Zagłębie Lubin at their home ground and, quite unexpectedly, lost 1:2.

During the international break, Frederiksen's team trained with an incomplete squad. The coaching staff was unable to use as many as twelve players who had left for national team duty. In addition, Lech had to play their league match on Friday, which meant there wasn’t much time to properly prepare for the game against Zagłębie Lubin after the players had returned.

The match at Enea Stadium started perfectly for the guests who, in just the 7th minute, took the lead thanks to Aleks Ławniczak's spectacular overhead kick. However, the visitors' joy didn’t last long. In the 18th minute, Lech equalised after a good team effort, which Filip Jagiełło finished off with a precise shot into the corner.

In the following period, the hosts maintained possession for the majority of the time, but it was Zagłębie who created the better goal-scoring chances. Bartosz Mrozek was forced to intervene twice after long-range shots from Kajetan Szmyt. Just before halftime, Leo Bengtsson came close to scoring, but his effort from outside the box narrowly missed the goal.

Shortly after the break, Taofeek Ismaheel was close to surprising Dominik Hałdun with a shot from outside the box, but, just like Bengtsson's earlier attempt, it was slightly off target.

In the 72nd minute, an inaccurate pass from Joao Moutinho triggered a counterattack from Zagłębie, which resulted in their second goal. Michalis Kosidis, who had come on after the break, received a good pass from Szmyt and put the ball in the net with a flat shot. In the closing minutes, Lech tried to equalise once again, but they were unable to secure at least the one league point and had to accept a defeat.
