After a humiliating defeat against Lincoln Red Imps in the Europa Conference League, Lech Poznań players travelled to Warsaw for their league clash with Legia. Both sides struggled to create quality goalscoring opportunities, and in the end, the fans gathered at Łazienkowska Street did not witness any goals.
The two teams approached Sunday’s fixture in very different moods. Legia Warsaw had secured a 2:1 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk thanks to a last-minute goal, while Lech Poznań had suffered a shocking 2:1 defeat to Lincoln Red Imps in Gibraltar. Following that loss, Lech’s players emphasised in the post-match interviews that they would do everything possible to redeem themselves.
The match at Łazienkowska Street did not offer much excitement. Early on, Bartosz Mrozek was called into action to stop a powerful long-range effort from Kacper Urbański, but in the following minutes, both goalkeepers were largely untroubled. Lech looked for their chances mainly on the counterattack, but they failed to break down the home side’s well-organised defence.
Lech’s best scoring opportunity came early in the second half, when Filip Jagiełło’s shot from inside the box went just wide of the post. Shortly afterwards, Kacper Tobiasz rather awkwardly tried to catch a cross from Luis Palma and almost deflected it into Mikael Ishak’s path, but the goalkeeper quickly recovered and claimed the ball.
In the end, both teams had to settle for a goalless draw and share the points.
