Lech Poznań - Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza 4:1

Lech Poznań went into their final match before the international break with a chance to move to the top of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa table. Niels Frederiksen's side achieved their goal with a convincing 4:1 victory over Bruk-Bet Termalica Nieciecza.

The Polish Champions’ previous match had a bittersweet feel. Although they beat Shakhtar Donetsk 2:1, they were ultimately eliminated from the UEFA Europa Conference League. As a result, the side managed by Niels Frederiksen can now focus solely on domestic competition, where an opportunity has arisen to take the top spot. Jagiellonia Białystok's and Zagłębie Lubin's defeats meant that just one point would have been enough for Lech to become the leader of PKO BP Ekstraklasa.

From the very first minute, Lech pressed forward and pinned Bruk-Bet deep inside their own half. The hosts enjoyed great freedom in possession, while the guests struggled to keep up. The breakthrough could have come early, as Patrik Wålemark found the net in the 8th minute, but the goal was disallowed for a foul on the goalkeeper. The hosts eventually made their pressure count after half an hour. Leo Bengtsson produced an excellent direct free-kick, which struck the crossbar and crossed the line. The Polish Champions quickly doubled their lead: Adrián Chovan saved a header from Mikael Ishak, but had no chance against Bengtsson’s follow-up shot. The Swede completed his brace, and moments later, another winger added his name to the scoresheet - Ali Gholizadeh received a long pass from Pablo Rodríguez, rounded the advancing goalkeeper, and changed the score to 3:0.

The second half followed a similar pattern, although Lech briefly lost control when Gabriel Isik beat Bartosz Mrozek. Bruk-Bet gained momentum and looked like they could cause further problems for the hosts, but Lech's goalkeeper successfully stopped Krzysztof Kubica's and Morgan Faßbender's efforts. Termalica made matters even more difficult for themselves in the 79th minute, when Kubica received a second yellow card and was sent off. In the closing stage of the game, substitute Taofeek Ismaheel capped the performance with an excellent long-range strike, sealing a 4:1 victory.
