Lech Poznań - Radomiak Radom 5:1

Niels Fredriksen and his men made a flying start to the campaign. The Poznań side won match after match, recording their best start to a season in the 21st century. However, their last two fixtures ended in painful defeats for Lech as they failed to bring home points from the away clash with Górnik Zabrze (1:2) and their Europa League match against Crystal Palace (0:4). That made a return to winning ways particularly important for the Blue and Whites, and they had the perfect opportunity to do so in their next league fixture - against Radomiak Radom.

It would be difficult to imagine a worse start to a match than the one Lech experienced at Bułgarska Street on Sunday - just seconds since kick-off, following the hosts' dangerous loss of possession near their own penalty area, Radomiak found themselves with an excellent goal-scoring opportunity. Guilherme Luiz took advantage and opened the scoring at Enea Stadium.

Lech immediately focused on bouncing back. Joel Pereira played the ball towards Pablo Rodríguez just outside the penalty area. The Spaniard skipped past his opponents with a clever piece of skill before unleashing a powerful effort from the edge of the box, bringing Poznań level in the third minute. Moments later, Mikael Ishak had a chance to put Lech ahead, but Radomiak's defenders blocked the captain’s effort. In the 9th minute, Frederiksen’s side created another dangerous opportunity inside the guests’ penalty area - Ishak played the ball to Filip Jagiełło, who immediately unleashed a powerful shot. Majchrowicz made the save, but Patrik Wålemark reacted quickest to the rebound and headed the ball into the net. The winger came close to scoring again just moments later, but Kryspin Szcześniak produced an excellent save right in front of his own goal to prevent his side from conceding another. Before halftime, Lech extended their lead to 3:1 thanks to Allahyar Sayyadmanesh, who beat Radomiak's goalkeeper after receiving the ball from Ishak. The captain continued to search for a goal of his own, but unfortunately, his effort struck the post.

After the break, the Poznań side continued to control the game. Just 6 minutes into the second half, Patrik Wålemark found the net again. Although Radomiak's defenders blocked the 24-year-old’s first effort, the winger stayed on the ball and got a second shot away, sending it straight into the back of the net. Lis was called into action soon afterwards, producing an important save to prevent Grzesik from changing the score. The final goal of the night came in the 67th minute. After receiving the ball from Wålemark, Rodríguez burst into the penalty area, calmly rounded the guests' defenders and scored his second goal of the day to set the final score to 5:1.

Lech’s players now face an extended break from club football. The exception will be those called up to their national teams, including Wojciech Mońka, who will join the Polish senior squad for the first time in his career, as well as Patrik Wålemark, Daniel Håkans, Luis Palma, and Michał Gurgul.

Lech will resume club action on October 10th - that's when they will face Śląsk Wrocław, who have just returned to PKO BP Ekstraklasa, in an away clash.
