Lech Poznań - GKS Tychy 2:0

Lech Poznan beat GKS Tychy 2:0 in a sparring match, following goals from Jevtic and Khoblenko. It was Lech’s fourth win during this winter’s training camp.

Lech began the match focusing on the defense and waiting patiently for chances to counterattack. Within a couple of minutes, Lech built the first scoring chance. Darko Jevtic came close to placing the ball in the net in the midst of a chaos in Tychy’s penalty box, but the goalkeeper intervened. A few moments later the Swiss midfielder received a cross from Kostevych, but the ball flew above the crossbar.

In the 20th minute, Jevtic got another opportunity to score. This time it was Gumny that passed him the ball, but the Swiss midfielder was slower than one of Tychy’s defenders. The two teams had only a few scoring chances in the first half and the two goalkeepers were rarely forced to intervene. Closer towards the halftime, Lech started pressing on Tychy’s defensive line which resulted in a good opportunity to score, but Radut’s attempt from within the box was successfully stopped by the goalkeeper.

Lech was awarded a corner kick following the goalkeeper’s intervention, which Jevtic, who was left unmarked in the box, converted into a strong shot, leaving the goalkeeper helpless this time. It was the midfielder’s 3rd goal during this winter training camp. So far this season, the Swiss player scored twice in the league too.

The second half did not differ from the first part of the match. Lech was determined to change the score while Tychy focused on defending their goal. An hour into the match, Lech was given a free kick and Radut converted it into a precise shot 20 meters from the goal, but his attempt was successfully stopped by the goalkeeper.

8 minutes later Gumny, Barkroth, and Jevtic built a great offensive action that the latter wanted to finish off with a pass to Radut who was one-on-one with the keeper, but unluckily for Lech, the pass was intercepted by one of Tychy’s defenders. In the 73rd minute, the coach of the lower-division side made 6 substitutions, but the changes did not impact the match.

Meanwhile, Bjelica waited until the 75th minute before sending the reserve players on the pitch. The substitutions in Lech’s squad resulted in a number of good scoring chances. In the 84th minute, Jozwiak’s shot hit the post. A moment later Majewski was fouled in the box and Lech was awarded a free kick which Khoblenko, one of Lech’s newest transfers, converted into a goal. The Ukrainian forward had the opportunity to score one more goal before the final whistle, but this time the goalkeeper stopped his shot.
