Kamiński to join VfL Wolfsburg in summer

Lech Poznań and VfL Wolfsburg reached an agreement on the transfer of Jakub Kamiński. The 19-year-old winger will officially become a part of the Bundesliga squad on July 1st, 2022. “It was a non-negotiable condition of the agreement,” explained Tomasz Rząsa, Lech’s Sporting Director.

The negotiations have ended in a way that benefits all. Firstly, Kamiński’s future is now secure, and the youngster can focus on fighting for the Championship and Polish Cup with his current club, without having to worry about the summer transfer window. Moreover, the offer made by the German club has turned out to be an interesting project for the 19-year-old winger. On the other hand, VfL Wolfsburg has won the fight for the young talent and secured his transfer before other top European clubs had the chance to. Lastly, Lech Poznań achieved the objective of retaining the player until the end of the current campaign.

“It was a non-negotiable condition of the agreement. It was our priority to maintain the current squad in the context of our fight for the Championship title and the Polish Cup. And we have achieved the objective,” emphasised Tomasz Rząsa. “In the previous transfer windows, we have rejected numerous attractive offers for Jakub. However, simultaneously we had an agreement with our young talent that he would be allowed to leave to another club next year. VfL have been determined from the start and concrete in their negotiations. We have now reached an agreement but on the condition that the player will join the German club on July 1st, 2022. Hence, Jakub will stay in Poznań for the next 6 months and we are very happy about it,” explained the Sporting Director.

The 19-year-old is also happy with how things have turned out. The captain of the Polish youth national team signed a 5-year contract with VfL Wolfsburg which will come into life on July 1st, 2022. “I am very happy to be able to continue my career at VfL Wolfsburg. It’s a great choice for me; the club has been determined and concrete since the start of the negotiations. They have laid out a plan for me and their approach convinced me. In addition, I had the chance to see the club’s infrastructure and organization which is top class,” highlighted Kamiński.

Kamiński is a perfect example of a model homegrown player. At the age of 13, he joined Lech from Szombierek Bytom and made his way up the academy ladder. As a 16-year-old, in winter 2018/2019, he already trained alongside the senior players. He made his debut in Ekstraklasa on September 20th, 2019 against Jagiellonia Białystok (1:1) and nearly immediately became a key figure in the squad. At Lech, Kamiński also won the Junior Championship title in the Older and Younger Juniors categories, and now he is aiming at one more trophy before he leaves the club.

“Every day I worked hard representing Lech and therefore earned this transfer. I believe that goals should be achieved and completed, not abandoned midway, hence I am glad that VfL Wolfsburg allowed me to stay at Lech and continue fighting for the Polish Championship and Polish Cup. I want to leave Ekstraklasa and my club as a Polish champion and I will do my best to achieve it,” said Kamiński who made his debut for the senior Polish national team last year.

“On the national scale, we are an example when it comes to managing young talents. We always pay close attention to the player’s development and organise his transfer only once he’s ready. Secondly, we make sure the players go to clubs that enable them to bloom. Wolfsburg is a very interesting project and they laid out an exciting, thoughtful plan for our winger. Most importantly, our management arouses faith in the young players whenever they see their older teammates succeed on the European stage,” explained Rząsa.
