Lech won their second friendly of the winter training camp, defeating AGMK Olmaliq 2:1. Yannick Agnero and Leo Bengtsson scored the goals for the Polish side.
On Saturday morning (Polish time), Lech played their second friendly match during the mid-season training camp in Abu Dhabi. The first practice game, against MŠK Žilina, ended in a 2:1 victory for Niels Frederiksen’s team. The Poznań squad was determined to add another win to their tally.
This time they faced AGMK Olmaliq, a team from Uzbekistan that placed sixth in their local league last season, and who have just kicked off their training camp. The Uzbekistan top division plays in a spring–autumn system, hence AGMK is in the midst of the pre-season preparations.
The most important highlight of the friendly was Patrik Wålemark’s return after 210 days. The player had been sidelined for so long due to injury. He last appeared at the start of the pre-season, when Lech faced Chrobry Głogów, before injury ruled him out. The coaching and medical staff decided that the Swedish midfielder would spend just over 20 minutes on the pitch, but he still made his mark by providing the assist for Lech’s opening goal.
That goal came after 480 seconds of play, following an excellent move that first involved two of Lech’s academy players - Wojciech Mońka and Robert Gumny - then the aforementioned Wålemark, and was finished off by Yannick Agnero. Agnero later registered an assist for Lech’s second goal, with Leo Bengtsson getting his name on the scoresheet on that occasion.
In the second half, Lech once again controlled the game and created more scoring chances. Taofeek Ismaheel, Karol Delikat, Robert Gumny and Wojciech Szymczak had opportunities to change the score, but the AGMK Olmaliq defence successfully stopped their efforts.
Towards the end of the match, the Uzbek side began to take the floor and eventually pulled a goal back, taking advantage of Plamen Andreev’s unconvinced attempt to come off his line. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle, and Lech recorded their second victory of the winter training camp.
On Saturday, Frederiksen’s squad will play one more friendly. At 2:00 PM Polish time (17:00 local time), Lech will face FC Noah, a team also competing in the UEFA Europa Conference League.
