Taofeek Ismaheel has been loaned to Lech Poznań until the end of the current season from Górnik Zabrze, with an option for a permanent transfer. The Nigerian, who is very familiar with the PKO BP Ekstraklasa pitches, will reinforce Lech’s flanks.
Taofeek Ismaheel arrived in Poland in July last year, when he joined Górnik Zabrze from the French side Lorient. The 25-year-old had previously made a great impression in Norway, where he got 13 goals and 7 assists in one of the season spent at Fredrikstad. In the following years, the winger played for Valerenga and Beveren before deciding to join the team from Silesia.
“Taofeek Ismaheel is a player with good dribbling skills and physical attributes. He knows the Polish top division well and was a key player for Górnik Zabrze in both the previous and current seasons. He is fully ready to play, which was important for the coaching staff. The Nigerian can play on both wings and will fit perfectly into Lech’s tactical setup,” said Lech Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
After joining Górnik Zabrze, the Nigerian quickly secured a spot in the starting lineup and accumulated over 2,000 minutes last season. During that time, the winger scored three goals and recorded four assists. Ismaheel has maintained his important role in the team this season as well, starting every PKO BP Ekstraklasa match; the 25-year-old even faced Lech in the third round of this season. Now, Ismaheel will compete for the side from Poznań for the remaining part of the 2025/2026 campaign.
“I’m a very hard-working player, full of energy, good at dribbling. I try to create space for my teammates. I also hope to contribute with goals and assists. Lech has fantastic fans - when I played against them, even when the result wasn’t favourable, the supporters kept cheering for the team. This stadium is amazing, and I can’t wait to play for my new club,” said Lech’s latest signing.
