“Hard work will bring results”

15 training sessions and 3 sparring matches – that’s Lech’s training camp in numbers. The players have already returned to Poznan where they’ll finish preparing ahead of the upcoming league match.

During the 12-day camp in Turkey, Bjelica’s players have not only been working the style of play, but also on their endurance. The training plan prepared by the coaches was intense. The team spent a lot of time at the gym and on the pitch. “It’s a difficult period during which we need to work extremely hard. Our determination and commitment now will have an impact when we start playing league matches again,” explained Robert Gumny who’s taken part in every single session during the camp.

For the coaching staff and the players, it’s an important part of the year. None of the footballers has returned with an injury despite a couple of the team members having minor health issues in Turkey. For example, Emir Dilaver had muscle issues and was forced to miss a training session. Similarly, Mario Situm injured his quadriceps and worked individually with physiotherapists. Meanwhile, Darko Jevtic suffered from a cold.

“If one of us isn’t 100% healthy, it’s better to miss a training session and recover than worsen your own condition. Whilst on the pitch, we need to be able to give it all,” explained Lech’s captain, Maciej Gajos. “I am very happy with the training camp. We all worked very hard and I believe we are all ready and the results of the training sessions will be visible on the pitch,” added the midfielder.

The intensity of the camp in Turkey was high and gradually decreased as the days progressed. The players were given 4 afternoons off which they often spent recovering from fatigue. “We are all tired after the 12 intense days. We worked extremely hard and now it’s time to return to Poznan and focus on the upcoming matches,” said Darko Jevtic.
