Friday marked Lech's final full day of their pre-season training camp at the Research and Development Centre. It was the perfect opportunity to reflect on the first team's preparations, and after the morning training session, the Polish Champions' head coach, Niels Frederiksen, spoke to the media.
"We've approached a few things slightly differently this time, and that's based on what we learned from last season. We all remember we didn't make the best start to the campaign, although there were several reasons for that. We discussed how we could plan certain aspects differently, and looking at the bigger picture, I believe we've achieved our objectives in terms of our physical preparation. We feel ready."
"He'll be joining us at the training camp today. I expect him to arrive later this afternoon. Naturally, visa procedures take time, but the most important thing is that he'll finally be with us. There are only a few days to go before the Super Cup, but if everything goes according to plan, he should be available for that match. During our camp in Wronki, our fitness coaches stayed in regular contact with him, so we always knew exactly how he was training and where he was physically. We monitored everything closely. The squad now has some time off, but he'll continue working individually and should be training with the rest of the team starting Tuesday."
"He's a very strong player and a powerful defender, so we're delighted to have him with us. He's quick, strong in one-on-one situations, and possesses excellent physical attributes. We've used the time he's already spent with us to help him settle into the way we play. Naturally, that takes a little time, but I think we've already taken some important first steps in that process. He's ready to compete."
"The players are teammates, of course, but many of them are also friends away from football. That's why it's no surprise that the atmosphere during the camp has been excellent. It's great to see everyone working together towards the same goal and staying fully focused on what we're trying to achieve. That's the ideal situation - when you can combine healthy competition with a strong team spirit."
"Of course, we want to begin the season by winning a trophy, especially after we fell short last year. It's a title, and that's what we're here to compete for. I'm convinced we have what it takes to win."
"Yannick Agnero, Daniel Håkans, and Alex Douglas didn't train with the squad today. They'll continue working individually over the next few days, including while the rest of the players are off. I expect all three to return to full training on Tuesday. None of them is dealing with a serious injury - it's more a matter of managing overload and making sure we don't take any unnecessary risks."
