#Skrzypczak2029

Lech Poznań homegrown player Mateusz Skrzypczak will once again play at Bułgarska Street. On Thursday, the 24-year-old defender reached an agreement on his return with the club. His contract will run until June 30th, 2029.

The Poznań-born defender spent 17 years wearing the blue and white colours before moving from Greater Poland to Podlasie in June 2022 to play for Jagiellonia Białystok. However, Skrzypczak has always been a Lech player at heart. He progressed through every stage of the Academy system, celebrating, among other achievements, multiple junior and youth championship titles. He also played a key role in helping the B Team achieve promotion to the national league level.

Skrzypczak made his debut for Lech’s first team in April 2019 in a league match against Jagiellonia Białystok (3:3). In total, he appeared in fourteen games for the A-squad and scored one goal in a Polish Cup clash with Chrobry Głogów (2:0).

In the 2021/2022 season, the defender won the Polish Championship with Lech and then moved to Jagiellonia Białystok, where he won another Ekstraklasa trophy, just two years later. Recently, he has also celebrated winning the Polish Super Cup with Jagiellonia, after beating Wisła Kraków 1:0 in the final. While playing in Białystok, the 24-year-old gained valuable experience and was a key player in coach Adrian Siemieniec’s squad. Now he returns to Lech to fight – together with the whole team – for the highest goals, both in Poland and in Europe.

“I feel great, I’m excited and happy. I’m returning to my dreams, going back to being that little boy, and I can’t wait to wear the Lech shirt again. I’m returning to Poznań as a more mature player. The three years I spent at Jagiellonia shaped me both as a person and a footballer. I gained a lot of valuable experience there. Now I’m ready to play for Lech,” said Mateusz Skrzypczak.

The new-old Kolejorz defender has so far played in 89 top-division matches, scoring six goals. He has also featured in the European arena with Jagiellonia, making four appearances in the Champions League qualifiers and nine games in the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League.

“We are overjoyed to welcome Mateusz back to Lech Poznań – to the club he gave his heart to. He returns to us as a much more mature player, having won the Championship, played in European competitions, and made his debut for the Polish national team. He’s ready to compete for a place in central defence and to proudly represent Lech both in the league and in Europe,” said Lech Poznań Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
