Lech Poznań - Motor Lublin 2:2

On Sunday, Lech faced Motor Lublin in a league clash that was also a celebration of the 100th birthday of the legendary Lech Poznań player, Teodor Anioła. The hosts ended up securing one point, thus moving up to fifth place in the league table.

In the autumn round of the PKO BP Ekstraklasa, Niels Frederiksen's squad played thirteen matches. Following Sunday’s encounter with Motor, the players from Poznań have now recorded three consecutive draws. This is already the sixth match since the start of the season in which Lech’s players have managed to scrape a single point only.

The first twenty minutes of the match were entirely controlled by the team from Lublin, during which both of their goals were scored. In the 9th minute, Bartosz Wolski passed to Fabio Ronaldo, who was entering the penalty area. Joel Pereira attempted to clear the ball, but unfortunately for the hosts, he accidentally placed it in his own net. The guests, coached by Mateusz Stolarski, didn’t have to wait long for their second goal. In the 19th minute, Timothy Oumy lost the ball in the opponent’s half, and it was picked up by Ivo Rodrigues. The Portuguese midfielder played a long pass, and Fabio Ronaldo chased it down and calmly beat Bartosz Mrozek in a one-on-one situation.

That second goal for the guests seemed to wake up Niels Frederiksen’s team, who pushed forward in search of an equaliser. In the 25th minute, following a well-built attack in the opponent’s half, Luis Palma scored with a shot from outside the penalty area. Just four minutes later, the Honduran tried his luck again, but his effort was off target. Shortly before half-time, Lech finally got their equaliser. Palma delivered the ball into the box, and after a scramble, it fell to Joel Pereira’s feet. The defender made no mistake and changed the score to a tie.

Both teams started the second half determined to take all three points. Despite numerous attempts from both sides, neither managed to find the back of the net before the final whistle, and the match ended in a 2:2 draw.
