The players of Lech appeared on the pitch wearing black bands in the memory of a 9 year-old Ksawery who fainted during a training session and passed away despite a medical assistance. The game could have started really well for the guests when in the 1st minute Hamalainen had a great opportunity to place the ball in the net but Kamiński intervened successfully. After that it was the team from Chorzów that dominated the game and attacked. Lechs goalkeeper was kept busy but nonetheless he managed to save all shots that were headed in his direction. From the 20th minute the match started to become more balanced, with Lech managing to leave its own half of the pitch. However, the guests caused a threat only once in the first 45 minutes. In the 26th minute Kędziora sent a great center to Vojo Ubiparip who headed the ball in the net but the linesman incorrectly raised his flag.

The second half belonged to the team from Poznań. However, Ruch had a well-organized defense and the guests had problems creating any chances. Thats why the players of Krzysztof Chrobak decided to shoot from outside the penalty area. Hamalainen tested the goalkeeper twice but both times Kamiński intervened well. Pawłowski was close to placing the ball in the net when in the 76th minute his shot stopped on the post. Lechs offensive brought results in the 86th minute when the guests were awarded a penalty. However, the result remained a blank tie as the goalkeeper managed to save the shot of Marcin Kamiński.
