Lech to face Shakhtar in the UCL Round of 16
Shakhtar Donetsk will be Lech’s opponents in the Round of 16 of the UEFA Conference League. The first leg will be played on March 12th, at the Enea Stadion, with the return leg taking place on March 19th in Cracow. The exact kick-off times will be revealed by UEFA soon, at which point ticket sales will also commence.
The draw took place on Friday afternoon in Nyon, Switzerland. It was the final draw of the season, as the bracket through to the final, which will be held in Leipzig, has now been determined.
In the Round of 16, the Polish Champions could have been drawn against one of two teams that finished in the top eight of the league phase: the Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk or Spain’s Rayo Vallecano. In the end, the draw paired them with the team from Ukraine, with Lech set to play the first leg at home.
What does the rest of the bracket look like? Should Niels Frederiksen and his squad progress to the quarter finals, they will face the winners of the tie between AZ Alkmaar (Netherlands) and Sparta Prague (Czechia).
In the semi-finals, one of four teams could await. In the quarter finals, the winners of the tie between Crystal Palace (England) and AEK Larnaca (Cyprus) will face the victors of the clash between ACF Fiorentina (Italy) and Raków Częstochowa (Poland).
