In the 14th round of PKO BP Ekstraklasa, Lech Poznań effortlessly defeated Ruch Chorzów. John van den Brom’s team triumphed 2:0 in the home clash.
Lech’s domination in the match against the Ekstraklasa newcomers was indisputable, the only question was when the hosts would find the back of the net. For most of the first half, the team from Poznań lacked precision in their offensive attempts. Finally, 9 minutes before the break, Jesper Karlstrom converted a free kick into a beautiful cross into the box, whereas Mikael Ishak redirected the ball into the goal with a precise header.
Lech didn’t slow down in the second half, and they highlighted their dominance with another goal. This time, the Swedish captain got the assist, whereas Kristoffer Velde added his name to the goal scorers’ list.
Ishak came close to scoring a brace in the closing minutes of the game, but he failed to convert an excellent goal-scoring attempt. Nonetheless, had he found the back of the net, there was a chance that the goal would be disallowed, as replays showed.
Now Lech has an important away game to prepare for – on Sunday, the team from Poznań will travel to Warsaw to face Legia.
