Lech joins Global Football Alliance

In recent days, Lech Poznań has officially joined Global Football Alliance – an elite organization that associates clubs from all over the world. The association’s objective is to anticipate and mitigate new threats related to the functioning of large football brands and to jointly search for innovative solutions to become competitive teams on a global scale.

Global Football Alliance was founded back in 2020 by Bernard Caiazzo, the President of AS Saint-Etienne. The association already has 20 members from across the world who cooperate together in various areas, including sports, marketing, communication, CSR and environmental protection. Currently, the alliance includes brands such as Villarreal CF (Spain), VfL Wolfsburg (Germany), AS Saint-Étienne (France), Crystal Palace (England), Bodo/Glimt (Norway), Estudiantes La Plata (Argentina), New England Revolution (USA), Kawasaki Frontale (Japan), and Melbourne Victory (Australia).

Global Football Alliance allows for one club from each country to join the association, and, as a result, Lech Poznań – the current Polish Champions who are competing in the Europa Conference League – were invited to join the initiative. It’s Lech’s international appearances that have to do with the club joining the project.

“It is thanks to our performance in the Europa Conference League and the opportunity to familiarise ourselves with big European brands that we have been invited to join the initiative. Our candidacy was advocated by Villarreal, the semi-finalists of last year’s Champions League edition,” explained Lech’s owner, Piotr Rutkowski.

“We are very happy to become a part of the association and we have no doubt, that we will benefit greatly as a result of the cooperation and also that our know-how will be of value to other clubs. It’s an opportunity to exchange insights on various aspects of club management with the presidents of teams from around the world, as well as between different departments since marketing and communication issues will also be discussed,” added Rutkowski.

One of the key objectives of the association is to share the best practices in different areas of club operations. The project also aims to create an international scouting and recruitment network, optimization of training and sports results, and support member clubs to increase productivity and competitiveness. Global Football Alliance is guided by the “glocal” concept which emphasizes that each club must give priority to the local but to develop and grow you need a global vision.
