On Wednesday, Ali Gholizadeh signed a new contract with Lech Poznań, valid until the end of June 2027.
The Iranian joined the club in the summer of 2023 and, over the past two seasons, has established himself as one of the key figures in Lech’s offensive line. Gholizadeh drove the team forward, scored stunning goals at crucial moments, and can rightly be described as one of the architects of the club’s recent Polish Championship title. The same was true this season; however, Lech's winger will unfortunately be unable to help his side on the pitch during the closing stages of the campaign due to an injury suffered against Motor Lublin, which has sidelined him for the next few months.
In recent days, the club and the player reached an agreement to extend the Iranian’s contract until the end of June 2027.
“We’re delighted that we managed to reach an agreement with Ali over a new deal. Throughout his time at Lech, we have strongly believed in his abilities, and he has repaid that trust on the pitch in the best possible way. We will support him fully in his recovery and hope that, once he returns, Ali will continue to be a key player for our team and help us win more trophies. We’re very pleased that he will stay with us for another year,” said Lech's Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
The author of 14 goals and 10 assists in the blue-and-white shirt is also very happy to have signed a new contract with the club. He stressed how grateful he is for the support he has received in recent days and hopes there are still many great moments ahead of him at Lech.
“I’d like to sincerely thank all the supporters, my teammates, and the club for all the kind words and incredible support during what has been a difficult time for me. It means a lot, and I truly appreciate every gesture. I’m looking forward to getting back on the pitch, and I promise I’ll return even stronger. I’m very happy to extend my contract with Lech, and I firmly believe the coming months will go the way we all hope. That also applies to the next few weeks - I’ll be supporting the team in the fight for the title,” emphasised the player, who has made 75 official appearances for the team from Poznań.
Ali, congratulations on your new contract. We wish you plenty of strength and a speedy recovery. We can’t wait to see you back!
