Dinamo wins the Lech Cup 2012

Dinamo Zagrzeb won the Lech Cup 2012. The Croats beat Borussia Dortmund in penalties 3 to 1. The score at full time had been 1 to 1.

The second day was a straight continuation of the second phase of the game. Dinamo was the first team to win the first place in the group. If  the Croats  had wanted to be in the final, they had to win and gain 3 points.  The match against Chelsea started really badly for them. They lost three goals. Then the coach of Dinamo tried to turn the tables and took the goalkeeper off the field substituting him for another player.

This move turned out to be a smooth one, it enabled Dinamo to score 3 goals and let them calm their game a little bit. Despite the fact that Dinamo was playing with one player less they managed to add one more goal finishing the match with the final result 4 to 2 and securing their place in the final.  The team from Germany became their rivals in the final of the Cup since they were the second in the group. However, the German team wasn't that effective and astonishing this day. They had one win and three draws. The scores from Saturday allowed them to take the second place.  FC Barcelona made it to the third place with 10 points.

Sporting Lisbon was the team that handled the Europa League best. The Portuguese were playing brilliantly and gathered quite a nice amount of 12 points in total. Their force was also in the mesmerizing player-forward Rodrigo Simoesa who scored 16 goals in the Cup. Paris Saint Germain ended up with a well-deserved 2nd place though after the first day of the Cup they had the smallest number of points of all the teams that qualified for the Europa League. In the second phase of the tournament they gained 7 points. Lech, on the other hand, started the day from a defeat against Juventus 0 to 5, losing all the goals in the first half. Then match after match the quality of their play was steadily increasing. The team from Poznań drew with Galatasaray 3 all and with PSG 2 all, losing a goal in the last seconds of the game.

In the final phase of the Cup Kolejorz played against the fourth team, which was Juventus. This time,  Lech players played much better than in the morning game. The Italian team proved their superiority once again beating Kolejorz 4 to 2 and they were to take the 9th place.

PSG annihilated Galatasaray in a fight for the 7th place, defeating the team from Turkey 7 to 2. The fifth place went to Manchester City which defeated Sporting. The Portuguese couldn't have won even with Simoesa scoring three more goals. Unfortunately, they lost with the English 6 to 3.

There were a lot of emotions for the fans gathered in the arena for the final of Europa League where FC Barcelona was playing a difficult match against Chelsea. The Londoners had to chase the score on and on and lost their goalkeeper in the second half due to an injury.  Barcelona used this advantage by scoring two fast goals and finishing it off with a 5 to 3 win.

Both teams, Borussia and Dinamo, started the final game of the whole tournament very calmly. The sixth minute brought a goal for Borussia-Kyeremateng's massive shot gave the Germans the lead. Dinamo managed to score an equalizer just before halftime-Marina was the scorer. The second half didn't bring any result, mostly thanks to both goalkeepers. The final had to be decided by rounds of penalties. These were more effectively scored by Dinamo players and they won the Lech Cup in 2012.

At the end of the whole tournament the 11th of the Cup was chosen. Among the honored players were Nathan Broome of Manchester City, Ruben Providence of PSG, Jonathan Kyeremateng of BVB, Paul Ansah of Chelsea and Antonio Marin of Dinamo Zagrzeb. Rodrigo Simoes of Sporting Lisbon became the top scorer with 16 goals scored in all the games.
