On Wednesday Kebba Ceesay signed a new contract with Lech Poznan which will last for two years with the possibility of extension for another year. The Gambian with a Swedish passport is recovering from an injury that forced him to pause for many months.

"He is a real professional, a tough guy who fights to achieve his goals," said Piotr Rutkowski, vice-chairman of Lech Poznan. "In the past months he has shown his determination in the process of rehabilitation following two serious operations. He settled down in Poznan well; he is a strong personality in the dressing room."

This year Ceesay has been rebuilding his form following the long break from football caused by injuries. In winter he completed the period of preparations for the league games and in spring he's been playing regularly in the matches of the third-league reserves. Moreover, he got a chance to play for the first team in the Polish Cup games.

"Rome wasn't built in one day and a year-long break from football has its consequences," admitted Ceesay. "I need time to get back in form, and I know that I am capable of playing much better than I used to before the injury."

The Gambian footballer signed a contract for the upcoming two years, with the possibility of extension for another year if he plays a specific number of matches in the last season. Ceesay moved to Poland in 2012 and since the beginning he said that he wanted to learn the language.

"It's going well, I even know some jargon terms: gira, bimba, pyry," said the player fluently in Polish and moved back to speaking in English. "The grammar is extremely difficult, but if I am to spend here 5 years in total, then there is no other option than to learn Polish. Sometimes I even translate to my teammates from Polish to English."
