In the first of the two sparing matches planned against APOEL Nicosia, Lech Poznan drew with the Cyprian team 0:0.

None of the teams had many goal attempts in the statistics of the first half. The Cyprian team was slightly more dominating, however Lech was the first one to create an opportunity to score a goal. Jan Bednarek, who was the right-back that evening, and his teammate Dariusz Formella caused some trouble to APOEL's defense line, however in the end they were both stopped before they could enter the penalty area. In the 11th minute Holman found himself one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but his shot was too weak and the Cyprian keeper had no trouble stopping the ball. In the 15th minute Dudka sent a great long ball to Thomalla and yet the goalkeeper turned out to be the better one again. The first half was far from exhilarating.

At halftime coach Skorza made 4 changes: Mateusz Lis was the one to guard the goal instead of Kotorowski, Kadar took over Kaminski's role, Serafin came in for Tetteh and Robak came in for Jevtic. The substitutions brought desirable effect and the image of the play changed. In the second half Thomalla, and Formella attempted to score a goal, but both failed to beat APOEL;s goalkeeper. The last good offensive actions of the match was led by the Cyprian team. The players from Nicosia pulled Lech's defense apart with multiple short passes and one of the attacking players was left alone with Lis, however Dudka intervened at the very last moment and stopped the threat.
