The group stage draws for the UEFA Europa League and the UEFA Europa Conference League took place on Friday afternoon in Monaco. Lech Poznań will participate in the latter competition, and Niels Frederiksen's squad has just learned the six teams they will face between October 2nd and December 18th.
For the first time in history, four Polish clubs have made it to the group (league) stage of European competitions: Lech Poznań, Legia Warsaw, Raków Częstochowa, and Jagiellonia Białystok. All of them will compete in the UEFA Europa Conference League. On Friday, the four clubs discovered their opponents during a special joint draw ceremony for the Europa League and the Conference League.
Thirty-six clubs were divided into six pots, and Lech Poznań was placed in Pot 2. Each team was drawn against one opponent from each of the other pots. The main rule was that teams from the same country could not be drawn against each other. This time, the traditional balls were not used - the entire draw was conducted using a computer.
To recap: in the league phase, each team plays six matches - three at home and three away.
The detailed schedule of each matchday, including kickoff times, will be determined by UEFA by Sunday, August 31st, after consultations with the television broadcasters who hold the rights to air the UEFA Europa Conference League matches.
