Resovia - Lech Poznań 0:4

The opening minutes didn’t suggest that the match was going to end with such a score. Until the 38^th minute when Lech scored the first goal, the hosts had big problems getting anywhere near Resovia’s penalty area, whilst the team from Rzeszow looked for spaces to counterattack. Krykun was very active on the wing in the first half and even came close to scoring around the 30^th minute.

However, the last 10 minutes of the first part were visibly dominated by the side from Poznan. First, Marchwinski and Tiba led a beautiful offensive attack which the latter converted into a strong shot. The goalkeeper intervened, but Gytkjaer was at the right time in the right place and he tapped the ball into the back of the net. A couple of minutes later, Marchwinski wanted to pass the ball to Makuszewski but instead the ball bounced off one of the defenders and found Gytkjaer who had no problems beating the keeper once again.

As it turned out, halftime didn’t have any impact on the match itself and as soon as the referee resumed the game, Lech scored again. This time Kostevych found the back of the net with help from Jozwiak. Soon afterward, it was already 4:0. Jozwiak got yet another assist and Marchwinski converted the pass into the fourth goal with ease. That last goal slowed down the pace but Lech remained in possession of the ball, ensuring that their rival didn’t surprise them with a lethal counterattack. The team from Poznan still had a couple more chances to change the score; however, Puchacz’s attempt landed on the crossbar and Gumny’s shot was successfully stopped by the keeper. Resovia also counterattacked a few times but since neither of sides’ attempts were effective, the match ended with a 4:0 win for Lech and the hosts advanced to round of 16 of the Polish Cup.
