Pogoń Szczecin - Lech Poznań 1:1

In the 33rd league match of the season, Lech drew 1:1 with Pogon Szczecin. The team from Poznan equalized following Drygas’ own goal.

The opening minutes of the Saturday clash were dominated by Pogon, however, it was Lech that fired the first shot – a weak attempt from Tralka that failed to surprise the keeper. Following Lech’s goal-scoring opportunity, the hosts remained in control of the match for a long while. Around the 20th minute, Gumny raced down the flank and into Pogon’s penalty area where he fell to the ground drastically, but instead of awarding Lech with a penalty kick, the referee punished the right-back with a yellow card.

Shortly afterwards, Kostevych converted a corner kick into a precise cross but Rogne’s header flew way above the crossbar. In the next offensive attempt, Gajos came close to scoring however, his shot was redirected slightly by one of the defenders and landed on the top of the goal net. Gumny’s header that followed a few minutes later was equally off target.

Surprisingly, in the 35th minute Pogon scored from a free kick but the goal was disallowed due to an offside. Majewski attempted to surprise Buric a moment later, but this time the keeper stopped the ball successfully. Shortly before the referee announced halftime, Pogon changed the score to 1:0 thanks to the same player whose impressive volley left Lech’s goalkeeper helpless.

Lech was determined to equalize in the second half, however most of their offensive attempts lacked precision in their last phase or the shots were easily stopped by Pogon’s keeper. 20 minutes before the match ended, the hosts finally regained control of the game. Drygas had the chance to set the final score to 2:0 but his shot was off target. Kożulj got an opportunity to score too, however, similarly to his teammate, he was imprecise.

10 minutes before the final whistle, Lech was deprived of any luck when Tralka’s beautiful volley hit the crossbar. In the next offensive attempt, Marchwinski raced into the box and sent a well-timed pass to Tiba, but the latter’s shot was successfully stopped by the goalkeeper. Finally, in the 88th minute Lech’s efforts paid off. Tiba dribbled past Pogon’s defenders and sent a pass along the goal line which was accidentally redirected into the net by Drygas. The score remained unchanged, hence the two teams were forced to share league points.
