Nineteen Lech Poznań players have received call-ups from their national team coaches. Gísli Thordarson is in line to make his debut for Iceland’s senior team, while Luis Palma, Antoni Kozubal, and Michał Gurgul are fighting for spots at the upcoming World Cup and UEFA U-21 European Championship. Five Lech youth players have also been selected to join the U-17 national squad.
Gísli Thordarson has earned his second consecutive call-up from Iceland’s senior national team. The midfielder got his first chance in September but didn’t make an appearance on the pitch in the matches against Azerbaijan and France. The 21-year-old may get his debut in the coming days as Iceland faces Ukraine and France.
Honduras, with Luis Palma in the lineup, had a promising start to the final phase of the World Cup qualifiers. The winger provided an assist in the match against Nicaragua and will have more opportunities to contribute soon, as his team is set to play Costa Rica and Haiti.
Meanwhile, Timothy Ouma has lost his chance to compete at next year’s World Cup. Kenya’s loss to Gambia ended their hopes for the world’s biggest football tournament. In October, Kenya will play their final two qualifiers – against Burundi and the Ivory Coast.
Poland’s U-21 national team kicked off their European Championship qualifiers in great style. The Poles convincingly defeated North Macedonia (3:0) and Armenia (4:0), with Antoni Kozubal and Michał Gurgul contributing to the wins. They will now have a chance to earn more points as coach Jerzy Brzęczek’s team faces Montenegro and Sweden.
Meanwhile, Bartłomiej Barański and Kornel Lisman have been called up for the upcoming U-20 Elite League match against Switzerland after impressing coach Miłosz Stępiński during the previous international break.
Poland’s U-19 team will travel to Croatia for a friendly tournament. They will face the hosts, Denmark, and Turkey. Kamil Jakóbczyk and Wojciech Mońka will have a chance to make an appearance in those matches.
Their one-year younger colleagues will play two friendlies in Spain. Coach Radosław Sobolewski has selected Karol Delikat, Sammy Dudek, Jakub Falkiewicz, Tymoteusz Gmur, and Eryk Śledziński to play against Ireland and the Netherlands.
Meanwhile, Piotr Kobierecki’s U-17 squad is starting their European Championship qualifying campaign. Players like Piotr Bartczak, Hubert Janyszka, Patryk Prajsnar, and Hubert Smyrak will be aiming to help the team reach the next stage. Poland will face Germany and Luxembourg.
Bartosz Bartoszewicz has earned his first-ever call-up for the U-15 national team. Poland will compete in a UEFA Development Tournament, facing Slovakia, Lithuania, and Bulgaria.
Important matches also await our young female players. Marta Kwiatkowska, Liwia Prochwicz, Michalina Wiśniewska, Amelia Guzenda, and Aleksandra Szoliba will compete in the U-17 Women’s European Championship qualifiers. The tournament, hosted in Poland, will include matches against Montenegro, England, and Scotland.
