The deal has been sealed and Luis Palma has joined Lech on a one-year loan from Celtic FC. The agreement includes a buyout clause.
At the beginning of July, Luis Palma concluded his participation in the CONCACAF Gold Cup with the Honduran national team. His team reached the semi-finals, where they lost to Mexico. Lech’s latest signing has played 27 matches for the national team thus far, scoring 6 goals. On Saturday, Palma left his homeland for Poland, and after arriving in Poznań on Sunday, he underwent medical tests.
"Luis Palma has joined us on a one-year loan from Celtic; the agreement includes a buyout clause. This is another response from us to the health issues we have been facing. We wanted to bring in a player who would add quality and who fits our profile. Palma is a player with significant international experience, and he has had excellent goal and assist statistics both in Greece and Scotland. He scored goals for Celtic in the Champions League. Now it’s important to integrate him into our team as quickly as possible," highlighted Lech's Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
Luis Palma is a 25-year-old who plays as a winger. His career began at CD Vida (Honduras), from where he moved to Real Monarchs (United States), and later to Aris (Greece). In the 2022/2023 season, Palma competed for Thessaloniki, scoring 13 goals and providing 8 assists in 36 matches - those great numbers led to his transfer to Celtic Glasgow. In Scotland, he had an outstanding 2023/2024 season (36 games, 10 goals and 10 assists). During the recent winter, he was loaned to a Greek side called Olympiacos Piraeus. Now he is joining Lech, also on a temporary transfer.
"I’m very happy to be here because Lech is a big club. I really want to work hard and give my best. Most importantly, I’m here because of the goals and challenges my new club is setting for themselves. I want to help achieve them. Of course, I came here to bring the experience I’ve gained from playing in the Champions League. I hope we have a successful campaign ahead. I don’t know much about Poland, but I like the city," said Luis Palma.
Luis Palma will wear the shirt with number 77.
