National teams’ schedule – who and when?

Fifteen Lech Poznań players have joined their national teams for the international break. Nika Kvekveskiri and Bartosz Salamon will compete in the Euro 2024 play-offs. Meanwhile, Maja Kuleczka, who received a call-up from the U-19 Polish side, will fight in the Women's European Championship qualifiers.

Bartosz Salamon returns to the Polish national team after a year-long break. The last time that the defender wore the white-and-red shirt was in March 2023 when he was a part of the starting line-up for the clash with Albania (1:0). In that game, the centre-back performed impressively and played a crucial role in the team’s success. The 32-year-old’s recent good form at Lech didn’t go unnoticed and he received another call-up from the national team coach. The squad led by Michał Probierz will compete in the semifinals of the Euro 2024 play-offs against Estonia. If the Poles managed to beat their opponent, they would play in the final against either Wales or Finland.

Nika Kvekveskiri is also going to fight for a spot at this year’s European Championship. The midfielder is a key figure in the Georgian squad; he already has 57 caps. In the semifinals of the Euro 2024 playoffs, Kvekveskiri and his teammates will compete against Luxembourg. If they win the clash, they will face either Greece or Kazakhstan in the final. Meanwhile, Slovenia is in a much more comfortable position as they have already qualified for the tournament. Miha Blažič will have an opportunity to play for his national team in the friendly games against Malta and Portugal.

Ali Gholizadeh’s Iranian side is currently ranked first in their World Cup qualifying group after two rounds. For Lech’s player, the two clashes with Turkmenistan will be the first opportunity to appear in a World Cup qualifier.

Poland’s U21 side is also in a comfortable position ahead of the games with Israel and Bulgaria. The white-and-red squad is ranked second in their group – a spot that gives them a direct advancement to the European Championship. Filip Marchwiński, Filip Szymczak, and Maksymilian Pingot received a call-up from coach Adam Majewski for the upcoming two games. Meanwhile, the U-20 team, with Antoni Kozubal in their squad, has two friendly matches scheduled for this international break – against England and Romania. Patryk Olejnik and Karol Kalata were called up by the U-18 Polish coach and will have an opportunity to appear in two friendlies against Cyprus.

On Wednesday, Igor Brzyski, Kamil Jakóbczyk, Wojciech Mońka and Mateusz Pruchniewski will kick off the last phase of the European Championship qualifiers. Rafał Lasocki’s team will face Bosnia and Herzegovina, Belarus, and Czechia. The group winners and the seven best second-ranked teams will qualify for the tournament. Another Lech Poznań player – Matsvei Bakhno (Belarus) – also received a call-up in this age category.

In addition, at the beginning of April, Maja Kuleczka will also compete for a spot at the Euro. The female player joined the U-19 side who is due to play in the second round of the qualifiers against Finland, the Netherlands, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
