Eleven Lech Poznań players have left for the international break and will have the chance to play for their national teams. Seven Lech players will compete in World Cup or European Championship qualifiers in November. In addition, two female players will also take part in a qualifying tournament.
Luis Palma is close to securing qualification for next year’s World Cup. Honduras have two final matches ahead, which will determine their place in the group. At the moment, Reinaldo Rueda’s side sits top with a two-point lead over Costa Rica – and it is against that opponent that the winger will have the chance to play his second match of the current international camp. The first opponent, however, will be Nicaragua. Gisli Thordarson’s situation is slightly more challenging. Iceland are fighting for a play-off spot and must win their two upcoming fixtures against Azerbaijan and Ukraine to claim second place. Timothy Ouma will play two friendlies, as Kenya take on Equatorial Guinea and Senegal.
A demanding task awaits Antoni Kozubal and Michał Gurgul. Poland’s under-21s have made a superb start to their European Championship qualifying campaign. The Poles have won all their matches and have not conceded a single goal. In the next round, they will face another team with a perfect record – Italy. That match will take place in Szczecin, and four days later, Poland will travel to face North Macedonia.
Poland’s U-19s will also fight for a place at the EURO. The players have travelled to Catania, where they will face Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, and Italy in their group. Kamil Jakóbczyk and Wojciech Mońka have once again been called up by coach Łukasz Sosin. Lech Poznań have also sent a strong contingent to the U-18 side - Jakub Falkiewicz, Eryk Śledziński, Tymoteusz Gmur, and Wojciech Szymczak have travelled to Spain to take part in a friendly tournament. The young Poles will face Norway and Denmark.
Oliwia Związek and Julia Przybył will depart for a European U-19 Championship qualifying tournament at the turn of November and December. In Bulgaria, Poland will face the hosts, Ireland and Sweden.
