Lech Poznań finished their winter training camp in the United Arab Emirates with a 0:1 loss to FC Noah, after conceding a goal in the final minutes. Niels Frederiksen’s squad will land in Poznań on Sunday morning, and next week, they will begin the preparations for the upcoming league clash with Lechia Gdańsk.
It was Lech’s second friendly game scheduled for Saturday. Earlier that day, Niels Frederiksen’s side defeated AGMK Olmaliq 2:1 thanks to goals from Yannick Agnero and Leo Bengtsson. A tougher challenge awaited Lech at 2:00 PM Polish time, when they faced FC Noah. The Armenian Champions, like Lech, are competing in the UEFA Conference League, with both teams set to play their knockout-stage playoff ties in mid-February.
Lech started the match better, creating goal-scoring opportunities in a variety of ways. They threatened twice from corners and once with an attack down the left flank. The Armenians replied with a long-range shot from Boakye, which hit the crossbar. However, the best chances for both sides came just before halftime. First, Pablo Rodríguez put Mikael Ishak through on goal, but the Swedish captain lost the one-on-one clash with Noah’s goalkeeper. A few seconds later, a Noah player found himself in a similar situation at the other end of the pitch, but with the same outcome, as Bartosz Mrozek came out on top.
After the break, the pace slowed down, although Bartosz Mrozek was busier than his counterpart. Even so, Lech’s keeper was rarely forced to intervene. Lech came closest to taking the lead from a direct free-kick by Luis Palma. Despite the considerable distance, the Honduran opted to shoot, and his effort flew slightly above the crossbar. The Armenian Champions eventually got their reward late on. Helder Ferreira found space in the penalty area and fired a low shot to give his team the lead. Lech had no time to respond, and it was FC Noah who celebrated victory.
Goals: Ferreira (89)
Lech Poznań: Bartosz Mrozek – Joel Pereira, Mateusz Skrzypczak, Antonio Milić, Michał Gurgul – Ali Gholizadeh, Antoni Kozubal, Filip Jagiełło, Luis Palma – Pablo Rodríguez, Mikael Ishak (82’ Wojciech Szymczak)
