Cracovia - Lech Poznań 2:2

For their final Ekstraklasa match of the year, Lech Poznań travelled to Cracow, where they faced the local side Cracovia in a friendly-spirited encounter. The game delivered plenty of excitement and goals, and the two sides ultimately shared the points in a 2:2 draw.

Both teams had midweek fixtures. Niels Frederiksen’s side defeated Piast Gliwice 2:0 away in the Polish Cup, securing their place in the quarter-finals. Meanwhile, Cracovia played a postponed league match and faced Wisła Płock - a game that ended in a goalless draw.

The hosts began the match with an offensive mindset, eager to take an early lead. However, Cracovia’s attempts narrowly missed the goal guarded by Bartosz Mrozek. Lech responded very effectively - Mateusz Skrzypczak was fouled in the penalty area, and Mikael Ishak converted the set piece into a goal with a powerful strike. Late in the first half came an incident that changed the course of the match: Pablo Rodríguez received two yellow cards within two minutes, leaving his side a man down. Cracovia quickly made use of the advantage, and just before the break, Mikkel Maigaard equalised with a header.

In the second half, Lech showed little sign of being reduced to ten men. The match became more balanced, and Cracovia struggled to make their extra player count. The hosts did manage to beat Mrozek a second time, with Mateusz Praszelik putting them ahead through a precise effort from outside the box. However, the Poznań side fought until the very end to secure at least a point, and they succeeded. Michał Gurgul sent a cross into the penalty area, and Ali Gholizadeh produced a superb volley, setting the final score to 2:2.
