Kamiński extends contract with Lech

Lech’s winger Jakub Kamiński extended his contract with the club from Poznań. The youngster’s third professional deal in his career is going to last until 2024.

Kamiński joined the senior squad in last year’s pre-season and ever since he debuted in the league, his performances have been outstanding. The youngster quickly became a key player and a regular start-up which is reflected in his personal statistics – since his first PKO Ekstraklasa game against Jagiellonia Białystok (20th September 2019), he only missed 6 matches. Over the past few months, he was also occasionally positioned as the right-back and proved to be reliable and trustworthy whenever the team needs him most. In total, Kamiński got 28 club caps this season, scored 4 goals, and assisted his teammates five times.

The 18-year-old joined Lech’s Academy in summer 2015 and he has been making incredible progress ever since. Kamiński climbed the Academy’s structures effortlessly. In 2017 he won the Younger Junior Polish Championship title, 12 months later he triumphed in the youth league with Older Juniors, and last year he helped the reserves win a promotion to a higher tier. Not to mention the silver medals that Lech’s senior team was awarded last week.

Tomasz Rząsa, Lech’s Sporting Director, emphasised his joy about extending the agreement with the talented winger and highlighted the player’s incredible progress in the first team.

“In June last year, Kamiński joined the senior squad and quickly made it into the match 18 and then starting eleven. We are thrilled with his performances and the fact that he managed to adapt to the first team so effortlessly,” explained Rząsa.

The youngster himself didn’t want to talk about his achievements since he sets the bar for himself even higher, both when it comes to club performances, as well as national team caps. The winger has been representing Poland since the age of 15 and his current objective is to receive a call up from Czesław Michniewicz. “In the upcoming season, I want to have an even bigger impact on Lech’s matches. Pressure isn’t a problem for me; I feel ready to make a real difference and provide the team with the numbers they need, whether it’s Lech or the national team U-21 squad that I want to debut for,” said Kamiński. If the youngster manages to continue to progress as a player at such a great pace, he will undoubtedly achieve all his personal objectives.
