“We count on our supporters”
Lech’s defender Lasse Nielsen expressed his faith in the fans. The Dane believes the team can advance to the next round, but to do so, Lech needs to play with its own style – this will help the players create scoring chances which are necessary to win the match. “We need a single goal only to advance to the next round,” emphasised the defender.
How does the team have to play to eliminate the Norwegian rival?
“Most of all, we need to play the way we know best – quickly, one or two touches without overdoing. If we do so, we will create scoring chances. For sure we will prepare thoroughly to the second leg, but it might turn out that we need just a single goal to advance further. The most important thing is to score the first goal.”
Have you already noticed the team’s progress since the start of this season?
“The number of new players is no excuse to us. A couple of skilled and experienced footballers joined the team. We’re all there for one another, helping out and working hard to form a great team.”
How are the new players adapting?
“You’d have to ask them (laughs). In all seriousness, I hope the proces of adaptation is going well. The role of the team is to make the newcomers comfortable. I myself am capable of helping Christian Gytkjaer and Nicklas Barkroth, both on and off the pitch.”
What would you like to tell the fans before the second leg against FK Haugesund?
“We’re all hoping that the fans come to the stadium and support us throughout the match. Their support might play an immensely important role. For sure we will do our best to win the match and advance to the next round of Europa League qualifications.”
