Amaral’s personal best
For Joao Amaral, the recent months have been the best in his professional career. Portuguese is the leader of Lech’s offensive line and one of the best attacking players in PKO BP Ekstraklasa. This season, so far, Amaral scored 8 goals and got 5 assists.
The 30-year-old returned to Lech following a 6-month loan to Pacos do Ferreira and immediately found a spot in Maciej Skorża’s starting line-up. This autumn round, Amaral gathered a total of 13 points (goals and assists) on his account and is the best player in the Polish top division, ex aequo with Raków’s Ivi Lopez. The Portuguese midfielder has been impressively consistent this season and he has played more than one match in a row without scoring or assisting his teammates. Moreover, his goals are often worth important league points, as it was in the case of the match against Górnik Łęczna (1:1) and Piast Gliwice (1:0).
Even though Amaral appeared in 17 matches only, he has already beaten his personal best. With his latest goal. Against Zagłębie Lubin (3:2), he improved his personal record from the 2019/2020 season when he competed for Lech and Pacos do Ferreira and got a total of 12 points (4 goals and 8 assists).
