On Friday evening, Timothy Ouma officially joined Lech’s squad. The 21-year-old defensive midfielder has been loaned for one year from the Czech side Slavia Prague. The agreement, which is valid until June 30th, 2026, does not include a buyout option.
Lech’s latest signing is a member of the Kenyan national team. He played in his home country until 2022 and then, at the age of 18, he joined the Swedish club IF Elfsborg. There, he not only had the chance to compete in the top division but also appeared on the international stage. In the 2024/2025 season, Ouma played 13 matches in the qualifiers and the group phase of the Europa League. On September 25, 2024, in the clash with the Dutch side AZ Alkmaar (2:3), he became the first Kenyan to score a goal and record an assist in the competition. During the winter transfer window of the recent campaign, he moved to Slavia Prague on a permanent transfer. Now, he is joining Niels Frederiksen’s squad.
“Timothy Ouma has joined us on a one-year loan from Slavia, without a buyout option. It was important for us to react and strengthen our midfield, considering that Radosław Murawski is temporarily unavailable due to health issues. We already knew our new player from his time in Sweden; he played for Elfsborg, where he made a great impression in the Europa League. He is a midfielder who is very effective in defensive duels and aggressive in ball recovery. In addition, he also has good playmaking skills,” said Lech’s Sporting Director, Tomasz Rząsa.
So far, Ouma has made nine appearances for the Kenyan senior national team. He will wear the blue and white shirt with the number 6 on the back.
“I mainly play as a defensive midfielder. I cannot wait to get to know my teammates and the club better. I’ve seen videos of the full stadium and the incredible support here, and I’ll do everything I can to show the amazing fans my best side,” says Timothy Ouma.
