"It’s great to see young fans"

“We felt the support of our youngest fans and it’s always something that makes a big difference to us. Whenever you feel the support coming from the stands, you play differently, more confidently. You simply know you’re playing at home,” explained Lech’s players after the match against Arka Gdynia. During the recent home league game, the stands were full of Poznan's youngest supporters.

In 2013, Lech organized the first event aiming to increase the attendance of children by allowing kids to enter a match for free. Back then, the event was called “Gimnazjaliści na Kolejorza” and it had successfully attracted 7 thousand secondary-school students. Every following edition managed to encourage even more young supporters from the city and the Greater Poland voivodship.

“We always appreciate the support coming from the stands, especially if we see groups of children because they have a whole future ahead of them and they still have the possibility of playing for the club or simply becoming a fan. It looks like a lot of kids enjoy football and hopefully they will continue supporting us for years. Maybe even a couple of them will get to play with us,” said Jasmin Buric, one of Lech’s most experienced players.

Kamil Jozwiak also emphasized the importance of creating the fundaments of Lech Poznan community. “I think that such events are brilliant. A lot of those young fans got to see the stadium for the very first time and I can recall from my own experience what an amazing feeling it is. It’s great that these children can visit the stadium, perhaps next time they will come with their families,” added Lech’s midfielder, emphasizing the joy of being surrounded by so many young supporters.

On Sunday, a total of 18,587 fans attended the match, and 8,464 of them were participants of the event “Kibicuj z Klasą”. “We could hear the support coming from the stands. It’s great to see so many young fans. I myself notice that it influences my performance positively,” summarized Jozwiak.
